Director of LSO Honor Choir, SEASON'S GREETINGS

JIM HEJDUK (hay-dock) has recently retired after a 38-year career as a music educator, 12 of which were spent as Director of Choral Activities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  He holds degrees from Westminster Choir College and Indiana University and was a Rockefeller Fellow for seven summers at Oberlin College and at the Aspen Choral Institute. 

Mr. Hejduk was the first musician awarded a Klingenstein Fellowship at Columbia University.  A church musician since ninth grade, he is Sub-Dean of the Lincoln Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and a Past Dean of the Boston Chapter of the AGO.  He is a past president of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association and has served on the Choral Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts.  He sang for four seasons with the Robert Shaw Festival Chorale at Carnegie Hall and prepared the UNL Oratorio Chorus for the opening of the Lied Center for Performing Arts under Maestro Shaw's direction.  Hejduk is currently enjoying substituting as organist, conductor, and/or baritone soloist at several Lincoln churches which complements his loves of travel and movies.
