Jeffrey Nelson, percussion
Jeffrey Nelson is originally from Lockport, IL, and currently serves as principal percussionist with Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra. He has held this position since 1995. He held the position of principal percussionist and timpanist with the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band from 1994 to 2001. Jeff graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a bachelor's in music education and continued his studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas where he graduated with a Master's in Percussion Performance. His teachers have included Doug Howard and Kalman Cherry of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Tom Stubbs of the St. Louis Symphony and Albert Payson of the Chicago Symphony. He also performs frequently with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. Jeff lives in Papillion with his wife Kelli and Max, their dog.
