Chantry Nelson, OboE & ENGLISH HORN
From 1979 to 1987, Chantry Nelson played English horn/third oboe and second
oboe for Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra. She left Lincoln in 1987 and returned
in 1995. She has been a member of the Eugene Opera Orchestra, Oregon Mozart
Players, Yaquina Chamber Orchestra, OSU-Corvallis Symphony, North Arkansas
Symphony, Oregon State University Quintet, and Quintessenz Woodwind Quintet.
Currently, in addition to LSO, Ms. Nelson plays oboe/English horn for the
Third Chair Chamber Players and the Lincoln Municipal Band, and is principal
oboe for the Hastings Symphony.
Ms. Nelson received her BME from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville and
her MM from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and has studied with Julie
Gramolini, Bill McMullen, Fred Korman, Brian Ventura, Bobby Jenkins, Glen
Guiles, Robert O'Boyle and Roger Widder. She teaches oboe and bassoon
privately and at Doane College and general music at Sacred Heart
Elementary/Middle School, Lincoln.
