The Lied Center for Performing Arts presents LSO in the emotionally-charged St. Matthew Passion, which features area choirs and five vocal soloists. J.S. Bach’s masterpiece recounts the story of Christ’s crucifixion by setting the Gospel of Matthew to music. Distinctive for its use of two orchestras and two choirs, the St. Matthew Passion has a musical texture that ranges from intricate counterpoint to simple chorales.
